Belonging

Never Last Picked.

Your team's Belonging score is in the Opportunity zone. That's not a problem — it's a signal. Here's something you can do about it this week.

A low score here can come from lots of small things — and small adjustments often have the biggest impact. Here's one idea to try.
Try this

You pick the teams.

Balance them yourself. Never let girls pick one by one. The last girl picked is often the first to quit — and the moment the sixth is chosen, every remaining girl is questioning if she will be last picked.

Why this works

Being picked last isn't just awkward. For a girl at the age where confidence is everything, it's a statement about her worth. She doesn't hear "you were seventh" — she hears "nobody wanted you." And she remembers it long after the session ends. Removing the moment removes the harm. It takes nothing from the session and protects everything that matters.

This week: Takes seconds. Just don't hand the picking over. Balance the teams yourself before training starts — or count them off (1, 2, 1, 2). The girls won't even notice the change. But the one who would have been last will.

You know your girls. If anything here feels bigger than football, trust that instinct and speak to your welfare officer.
