Stopping Dropout

1 of 4

Your squad. Your data.

Most girls don't quit.
They drift.

By the time you notice — the drift became a decision.

But if you can see it early enough — you can change it.

Your girls just showed you exactly where to look.

The drift signal

Her Voice Matters — she told you

I'm not sure if I fit into this team

"She's still coming. She hasn't made a decision yet. But something has shifted — and she can't quite articulate what. This is the window. Most coaches don't get one. You do — because she told you."

This session

A quiet word before training. Not about football. Just — I wanted to check in. You don't need to fix anything today. You just need her to know she was noticed. That closes the gap between drifting and staying.

The early warning

Her Voice Matters — she told you

I sometimes feel like I don't want to come to training

"She's still showing up. That matters. But the pull is weakening. Something is making training feel like an obligation rather than something she looks forward to. She's told you before it became a habit of not coming. That's everything."

This session

Watch her first. Is she included by the other girls or on the edge of it? Has she integrated or is she still finding her place? When does she look uncomfortable — a drill, a partner exercise, a moment of pressure? Once you know what you're looking at — make training the place she feels most included. Give her a role. Make sure she connects with at least one teammate. When she walks away thinking that was good — she'll be back.

Stopping dropout

Remember

Dropout doesn't happen in one session. It builds over weeks. You just got weeks of warning. Most coaches don't.

"You can't stop every girl from leaving. But you can make sure that when she does — it wasn't because nobody noticed she was drifting. You noticed. Now act on it."
