Support moments
Quick answers for the little things that come up
Where to go, what to do — for the small things that happen in a season.
I've forgotten my password — what do I do?
On the sign-in page, tap Forgot password, enter the email you signed up with and tap Continue.
You'll get an email from CHGConnect with a link. Tap it, choose a new password, and you'll be taken straight back into the app.
No email? Check your junk folder, and make sure you used the same email address you signed up with. Still stuck? Message us on WhatsApp or email and we'll help.
What if I picked the wrong age group?
Age groups can't currently be changed from within the app. Message us on WhatsApp or email and we'll change it for you.
What if I make a typo in a player's name?
Names can't currently be edited from within the app. If you've entered something wrong, message us on WhatsApp or email and we'll sort it. In future versions you'll be able to edit these directly.
My player has forgotten her PIN — what do I do?
Go to Player Pins in your squad and find her name. Her current PIN is shown alongside it. Tap Copy Invite to copy her PIN and Player Portal link ready to send to her, or to her parent if she's under 13.
My player can't log in — she's using the right PIN
Check the first name she's using. It needs to match the name you added her with, including the spelling and any hyphens. For example, if you added her as "Ella-Rose", entering "Ella" won't work. Capital letters don't matter.
You can check exactly how her name is stored under Player Pins.
One of my players thinks someone else knows her PIN — can I change it?
Yes. Go to Player Pins, find her name and tap Reset. A new PIN is generated straight away and the old one will stop working. Tap Copy Invite to send her the new PIN and Player Portal link, or send it to her parent if she's under 13.
Her PIN gives access to her Player Portal, including her recognitions and Your Voice Matters check-ins. If you know it's been shared, reset it so her portal stays hers.
What if I missed a player when I did Session Review?
If you realise you missed a player who was at the session, go to Manage Squad and tap the round session-review button between Add Player and Player Pins. The Last Session panel will show everyone currently recorded as attended.
Tap Add a missed player, choose her from your squad and give her a recognition. She'll be added to the session, receive the same Your Voice Matters questions as the rest of the team, and the feedback you choose will appear in her Player Portal.
You can do this for your most recent session only. Once you record a new session, the previous session can no longer be amended.
My player has raised her hand — what do I do?
Reach out to her — however you normally would (a quick word after training, a message, a call with her parent if she's under 13). She hasn't told you why she's raised her hand, so keep it warm and open. Something like "I noticed you raised your hand — is now a good time for a chat, or would something later this week suit you better?"
Once you've made contact, mark her as contacted from the Check In tile and her name will clear from the list.
If you're unsure how to approach the conversation, speak to your club welfare lead or safeguarding contact first — they're there to guide and support you. Sometimes a raised hand is a chat about something you asked in a check-in, or a bit more context she wants to share. Sometimes it's something bigger. Either way, if you're not sure, reach out to your club person before you reach out to her.
What if I try a hint and it doesn't work?
That's okay. Teams aren't formulas, and the aim isn't to find the right action to make a number go up.
A hint is simply one idea you might explore. If it doesn't feel right for your team, or you try it and nothing seems to change, that doesn't mean you've done anything wrong.
The Insights are there to make you curious, not to mark your coaching. You know your team better than any app ever will. Take what fits, leave what doesn't.
We couldn't find that one.

The why behind CHGConnect
Because grassroots coaches deserve more support.
Coaching girls is different. Not harder — but if you do it, you'll probably nod when we say it asks something different of you.
You're navigating far more than drills, tactics and match performance. You're trying to understand different personalities, keep players engaged, build confidence, manage communication and create a team they want to stay part of — often without much support around you.
That's why CHGConnect was built. To stand alongside you, give you more insight into your squad, and help make some of the harder-to-see parts of coaching easier to understand.
Less admin. More connection. Better insight into your team.
- Reduce the admin
- Connect with every player
- Get real feedback from your squad
Pulse - Her Voice Matters
What is Her Voice Matters?
Her Voice Matters is your first listen. Five quick, anonymous questions give every player a simple way to tell you how being part of the team feels from her side. It takes under a minute and gives you a team-level snapshot across Enjoyment, Belonging, Development, Voice and Confidence.
It's a starting point, not the whole picture. Once your squad is set up, Your Voice Matters gives you a way to keep listening as the season goes on.
When do my Pulse results show?
Your Pulse results unlock once at least 6 of your players have responded. This isn't a technical limit — it's there to protect each player's individual answer. With fewer than 6 responses, showing a team result could make it easier to work backwards and guess what one player said.
You'll see the response count build in real time on your dashboard, so you can see how many of your players have taken part and give them a gentle reminder if you want to.
How long do my Pulse results stay on my dashboard?
Your players have 48 hours to answer from when you generate the link. You'll see a countdown on your dashboard showing how long is left, so you know whether it's worth a nudge in your team chat.
Results unlock once 6 players have answered, and keep updating as more come in. You can look at them as often as you like while the Pulse is open.
Once the Pulse closes, your final results stay on your dashboard for 48 hours from when you first open them. So if you're busy for a few days, they'll be waiting for you.
Your Pulse is a first snapshot. Once your squad is set up, Your Voice Matters keeps that listening going through the season, with responses building into your Team Insights over time.
Team Details
How do I set up my team?
When you sign up, you'll be asked to create your first team. Add your team name, choose your sport, select your age group — Junior (U13 and under), Youth (U14 to U18) or Women's — then tap Save Team.
Your age group decides which Your Voice Matters and Player Profile questions your players see, so they're always right for her age.
Where do I confirm parental consent?
During setup, CHGConnect asks you to confirm that the required consent is already in place. For players under 13, this means parental or guardian consent.
CHGConnect doesn't collect or store the consent itself — keep those records through your usual club process.
Add Players
How do I add my players?
From your team, tap Add Player. Enter each girl's first name and surname initial (e.g. "Charlotte S") along with a PIN they'll use to log in. Keep adding as many as you need, then tap Add to Squad when you're finished or want to pause.
What if a new player joins mid-season?
The process is the same. From Add Player in Manage Squad, enter her first name and surname initial, generate her PIN, and share her invite privately — just like when you first set up your squad. She'll join the same age-group version as your other players.
Before you send her PIN, take a moment to share your CHGConnect introduction letter with her (and her parent if she's under 13), so she knows what she's being invited into ahead of logging in.
Once she logs in for the first time, she'll complete her Player Profile — giving you the same early insight into her as the rest of your squad.
What does the surname initial do?
Two things: it lets you tell apart players with the same first name in your squad, and it keeps things quick — a girl only needs to type her first name to log in, not her full surname.
My Squad
What are the status tiles at the top of My Squad?
The tiles show how many players are currently in each status. Active is your active squad. At Risk flags players whose recent attendance pattern has changed. Injured, Paused and Left let you keep players in the right place when they're not currently active. Check In shows how many players have raised their hand to talk.
Tap any tile except Active to see the players in that group.
How does a player become "At Risk"?
A player moves to At Risk automatically when she's missed 3 or more of her last 5 sessions. If her attendance brings her back below that threshold, she'll return to Active automatically — you don't need to change anything.
At Risk isn't a judgement. It's simply a signal that something in her recent attendance has changed — giving you one less thing to track manually. If you know there's a reason for the change, such as an injury, you can update her status manually by selecting her name.
How do I mark a player as Injured, Paused or Left?
From My Squad, tap the player and choose her new status. Use Injured for a temporary absence, Paused for a longer break, and Left when she's left the team.
While a player is Injured, Paused or Left, she won't receive check-ins or availability requests. Set her back to Active when she's ready to return.
What if a player leaves the team?
From Manage Squad, tap her name and change her status to Left Squad. She'll stay in your squad list but show as inactive, and she'll no longer appear in Session Review.
Her Player Portal access will end, but her history stays with you — recognitions given, Player Profile answers, response patterns. That means if she returns to your squad in a future season, her context is still there.
If she rejoins, change her status back to Active.
If she's stepping away temporarily rather than leaving for good — an injury, a break, exams — use Paused instead. Same principle: she won't receive requests, but she stays available to reactivate when she's ready.
Player Logins & PINs
How do my players log in to their portal?
Each player logs in using her first name (exactly as you added it) and her PIN. Share her PIN and the Player Portal link with her, or with her parent if she's under 13. Capital letters don't matter when logging in, so "Ella", "ella" and "ELLA" will all work.
What happens when my player first logs in?
On her first login, she'll be asked to complete her Player Profile — a short set of questions about her, how she likes to be coached and what she wants from her season. It gives you something from every player in her own words, and you can come back to it at any time by selecting her name in My Squad.
Once she's finished, she'll arrive at her Player Portal. This is where she'll see recognitions from you, answer Your Voice Matters questions and access the other parts of CHGConnect available to her.
Does my player need to download an app?
No. The Player Portal opens from a web link in her phone's browser, so there's nothing to download or sign up for. She logs in using her first name and PIN.
If she wants quicker access, she can add the Player Portal to her phone's home screen — see Add to Home Screen for how.
Player Availability
How do I set up an availability check?
Go to Availability and create a new session. Add the date, time and session type (training or match), then share the link with your team through WhatsApp or your usual team channel.
Players can reply Yes, Maybe or No. They also have the option to add a short reason to their response.
How do I see who's replied to my availability check?
Go to Availability, find the event under Live sessions and tap it. You'll see who's replied Yes, Maybe or No. If a player added a reason, you'll see that alongside her response.
That extra bit of context can be useful. For example, if a player can't get to training because of transport, you'll know there may be an opportunity to see whether someone can help her get there.
Still waiting on a few? Tap Copy link and share the availability message again in your team chat.
When do availability responses close?
Players can respond or update their availability until 9pm the day before the session. After that, responses close to players.
The session stays visible to you until 8pm on the day of the session, so you can still check who's coming when you need it.
How many availability sessions can I have live at once?
You can have up to 12 live sessions at once, so you can add upcoming training sessions and matches in advance.
Each session has its own Copy link option, and players can reply or update their response right up to the 9pm cutoff.
Session Review
What is Session Review?
Session Review is where you record what happened after a training session or match. You mark who attended, choose whether it was a training session or a match, and this becomes the anchor for two things — the recognitions you give your players, and the Your Voice Matters questions they see in their portal.
How do I record attendance?
Open Session Review, choose the session type (training or match), then tap each player who was there. Attended players will move into the next step of the flow — Recognition — so you can give each one a warm word for showing up. Players you don't mark stay out of the cycle for this session.
Does it matter if I mark a session as training or match?
Yes — the app serves different content based on which one you pick. Training and match are genuinely different experiences, so recognition phrases differ (a "kept the energy up in training" phrase isn't the same as "backed herself in a match moment"), and some Your Voice Matters questions on Development are context-specific (how the girls feel about their growth differs between practice and applied play).
Your girls get questions that match what actually happened, and you get a recognition pool that fits the moment.
Give Recognition
How do I give my players a recognition after a session?
CHGConnect calls it Recognition, but think of it as a short piece of feedback from you on something you noticed.
After you complete Session Review, you'll land on Recognition Overview. Every player who attended is listed as Pending until she's received one. The header shows your progress (e.g. "1 of 2 completed").
Tap a player's name, then select the Recognition category you want to use. The feedback options will appear once you've selected the category — if the boxes look empty, tap the category again as it needs to be selected each time you open a player's Recognition.
Choose the feedback phrase that best fits what you noticed, then tap Save Recognition. She'll show as Done in the list. Work through the players until everyone who attended has received something from you.
If you need to pause, tap Save & Come Back Later and pick up where you left off.
What recognition categories can I choose from?
There are six core categories, plus Coach Recognition for something you noticed that doesn't quite fit anywhere else:
- Effort — application, work rate, determination
- Teamwork — support, inclusion, encouragement
- Resilience — staying in the game when things feel hard
- Confidence — backing herself, stepping forward
- Leadership — positive influence on others
- Positive Attitude — the energy and approach she brought
- Coach Recognition — for something else you noticed that deserves to be named
Each category gives you a choice of feedback phrases, with different options for training and matches. You choose the one that best reflects what you saw, and she receives it in her Player Portal.
Why can't I write my own recognition?
The feedback phrases are already written for you so Recognition stays quick to use, even at the end of a busy session.
You notice the moment and choose what fits. CHGConnect helps you put that feedback into words without you having to write an individual message for every player.
Can I see which recognitions I've already given each player?
Yes. Open her Player Profile to see which Recognition categories you've used with her across the season.
Over time, this can help you notice your own feedback patterns too — perhaps one player is regularly recognised for Effort, while another is being noticed in lots of different ways. There's nothing you have to change; it's simply another thing you can be aware of as her coach.
Your Voice Matters
What is Your Voice Matters?
Your Voice Matters gives your players a quiet way to tell you how being part of the team feels from their side. After a session, you choose two short questions for your players to answer in their Player Portal.
Their answers are anonymous and shown to you at team level — you see the pattern, not who said what. Over time, those responses build your Team Insights across Enjoyment, Belonging, Development, Voice and Confidence.
How do I choose the Your Voice Matters questions for a session?
After you finish Recognition Overview, you'll move into Your Voice Matters. You'll see the five categories — Enjoyment, Belonging, Development, Voice and Confidence. The questions are there to help you understand different parts of your squad's experience. You might use them for a general check-in — are they enjoying training? — or something more specific, like whether a drill has landed before you build on it in the weekend's game.
Choose two categories, then select one question from each. When you're happy with your choices, tap Send to Players. The questions will appear in your players' portals straight away and stay open for 72 hours.
How long do my players have to respond?
Players have 72 hours from the time you send the questions to respond through their Player Portal. After that, the check-in closes and they can no longer submit an answer.
There's no need for everyone to answer straight away — the window gives players time to respond when it suits them.
Are the answers really anonymous?
Yes. You never see an individual player's Your Voice Matters answer. Responses are combined and shown to you at team level rather than against individual names.
Team Insights only unlock once at least 6 players have responded, helping protect individual responses even within a smaller group.
That's an important part of Your Voice Matters: your players can have their say without wondering whether you'll know which answer was theirs, while you still get something useful to listen to as their coach.
What if my players don't answer?
Don't read too much into one missed check-in. Players forget, miss messages, get distracted or simply don't get around to it.
While your questions are open, your dashboard shows how many players have answered and how long is left, for example "4 of 9 answered · Closes in 1 day 6 hrs". If you're waiting on responses, a gentle reminder in your usual team chat is fine.
If low response becomes a pattern, you might simply ask the team about it — whether they're seeing the questions, whether the timing works for them, or whether there's something that would make taking part easier.
The important thing is not to guess what a lack of responses means.
Should I ask about the same categories every session?
You don't have to. Rotating the categories can help you hear different parts of your team's experience over the season.
What matters most won't be the same for every player. Enjoyment might matter most to one girl right now, while another might have more to say about Confidence, Voice or Development. Asking across the five areas gives you more chances to hear things you might not otherwise see.
→ More on why these five categories: see Team Insights.
How long do the questions and recognitions stay visible in her portal?
Your Voice Matters questions stay live in her portal for 72 hours from the time you send them. Once she submits her answers, the questions disappear from her portal. If she doesn't respond, they'll close automatically when the 72 hours ends.
Recognition works differently. The feedback you send stays visible in her Player Portal until you send her a new recognition, so she can come back to what you noticed after the session has finished.
Player Profile
What is the Player Profile?
The Player Profile helps you get to know the girl behind the shirt. On her first login, each player answers a short set of questions in her own words — things like her preferred name, position, how she likes to learn, who she looks up to, what she wants from her season and what she feels could help her from you as her coach.
You can come back to her profile at any time by selecting her name in My Squad. It gives you something from every player in her own words — not only the ones who naturally find it easy to speak up.
When does my player fill out her profile?
She completes her Player Profile the first time she logs in to the Player Portal. Once she's finished, she'll continue into her portal as normal.
Can she change her profile answers later?
For now, her Player Profile is completed once on her first login. In a future update, she'll be able to revisit and update her answers as the season goes on.
What do I do with what she shares?
Think of her profile as context, not instructions. It gives you a few more pieces of the person you're coaching — how she likes to learn, what matters to her and what she wants from her season.
Sometimes that might simply give you an easy conversation starter. If she's told you who she looks up to, for example, you might ask what she likes about the way that player plays. Other answers might give you something useful to keep in mind when you're coaching her.
And pay particular attention to what she says could help her from you this season. It's a rare chance for every player to tell her coach directly, in her own words, what she thinks might help.
How does my player Raise Her Hand?
From her Player Portal, your player can tap Raise a Hand at any time. It's her way of saying "I'd like to talk to my coach." She doesn't have to say why.
You'll see her name appear in the Check In tile on your My Squad page. Raising a hand is her action. Checking in is yours.
→ See the Raise a Hand section for the full picture of how this works.
Player Portal
What is the Player Portal?
The Player Portal is your player's home in CHGConnect. It's where she completes her profile, receives recognitions from you, answers her Your Voice Matters questions, and can raise a hand if she wants to talk.
It's a web link — no download, no app store — she just opens it in her phone's browser and logs in with her first name and PIN.
Can I see what my player sees?
Not directly — a player's portal is hers, and coaches don't access individual player portals (that would break the trust the girls have in the space).
But you can see exactly what her portal looks like. The Player Journey Preview walks you through every screen — welcome page, Player Profile questions, and how her experience differs between Junior and Senior players.
What can my player NOT do in her portal?
By design, there's no free-text messaging, no chat, no way for your player to send you a private note — and no way for you to send her one back. Her voice comes through in structured check-ins and the Raise a Hand action. Everything is either aggregated (her Your Voice Matters answers) or clearly flagged (a Raise a Hand notification).
This is deliberate. We're not building a messaging app; we're building a way for coaches to understand their players without opening pathways that could be misused. If she needs a real conversation, she raises her hand — and you have that conversation in person, the way it should be.
Raise a Hand
What does Raise a Hand mean?
Raise a Hand is your player's way of asking to talk to you. From her Player Portal, she can tap it at any time. She doesn't have to say why — she's simply signalling "I'd like a conversation with my coach."
When she does, her name appears on your Check In tile in Manage Squad. Tap the tile to see who's raised their hand. Reach out to her, have the conversation, and mark it as contacted when you have.
What's the difference between Raise a Hand and Check In?
Two verbs, two people, one flow. Raise a Hand is the player's action — her voice, her choice to reach out. Check In is your action as her coach — what you do in response.
The tile is labelled from your perspective (things for you to do), so on your side it's called Check In. From her perspective, she's raising her hand.
Is Raise a Hand a safeguarding tool?
CHGConnect is not a safeguarding or emergency tool.
Welfare or safeguarding concerns must always follow your club's official process — the appropriate Club Welfare Officer or safeguarding lead should be involved.
Raise a Hand helps a player ask to connect with you as her coach; it does not replace safeguarding procedures.
If a Raise a Hand conversation leads to a disclosure or concern about a player's welfare, follow your club's safeguarding process straight away.
Team Insights
What are Team Insights?
Team Insights brings together your players' Your Voice Matters responses across five categories: Enjoyment, Belonging, Development, Voice and Confidence.
It uses responses from the last 28 days to give you a team-level picture of what your players are telling you. You never see an individual player's answer — you're looking for patterns across the squad.
Think of it as another lens on your team, alongside everything you already notice in training and matches. It won't tell you why something is happening, but it might show you something worth being curious about.
What do the six tiles show?
These six tiles bring together the answers your team has shared through Your Voice Matters over the last 28 days, giving you a quick picture of how your team is experiencing their game.
Each tile is built from every answer your players have given to questions in that area. The more you hear from your team across all five areas, the clearer that picture becomes.
Team Health is the average of the other five areas.
What do the colours mean?
Green means Thriving (7 and above), yellow means Healthy (4 to 6.9) and blue shows an Opportunity to offer more support (below 4).
A grey tile simply means you haven't asked a question in that area recently.
When will I see my Team Insights?
Team Insights unlock once at least 6 players have responded. This minimum helps protect each player's individual answer by making sure you're seeing a team picture rather than responses from just one or two players.
Players can be honest knowing their individual answers can't be traced back to them — and that honesty is what makes these insights useful.
You'll see the response count build as answers come in, so you can see how close you are to unlocking your Insights.
What is View recent YVM questions?
See the questions behind your scores from the last 28 days. This gives you the context behind each tile and helps you understand what your players were actually responding to.
What is the Season View?
Tap any tile to see how that area has changed across your season.
Each dot represents a session where 6 or more players answered. Over time, this helps you spot changes, dips and lifts — and think about what might have been happening around them.
Scores can move because of what happened that week, but also because of the question asked, as some questions will naturally score differently from others. Check your recent YVM questions alongside the graph to help put those changes into context.
What is the Team Snapshot?
A quick summary, below your tiles, of where your team is Thriving, where things look Healthy, and where there may be an Opportunity to offer more support.
It's a starting point for reflection, not a to-do list. You know your team best.
Why did you choose these five categories?
Enjoyment, Belonging, Development, Voice and Confidence cover five different parts of what it can feel like to be a girl in a team.
Is she enjoying being there? Does she feel part of it? Does she feel she's developing? Does she feel able to have a say? Does she feel confident enough to take part and back herself?
The answer won't be the same for every player. One girl might be having a brilliant time but not feel confident enough to speak up. Another might feel completely part of the team but unsure whether she's progressing.
Looking across all five gives you a broader picture of your players' experience — including some of the things that can be difficult to see just by watching a session.
Together, they're the things most likely to keep a girl coming back and staying in the game.
They're not a judgement on you. Lots of things shape how a team feels, but these are all areas where you can make a difference.
Your Pulse gives you the first snapshot. Your Voice Matters is the deeper dive: you choose which areas to ask about after each session, and your Team Insights build as the season goes on.
→ Go deeper: The five things that keep girls playing
→ Related: Should I ask about the same categories every session?
Why am I seeing a hint card on my Insights page?
If one of your categories sits in the Opportunity range, you may see an idea you could explore. Tap the card to see more practical ideas for that area.
It's a prompt, not an instruction. The score tells you what your players are reporting; it doesn't tell you why. You know your team, so you decide whether the idea fits, whether something else makes more sense, or whether you simply want to keep listening for now.
Add to Home Screen
How do I add CHGConnect to my iPhone?
Open CHGConnect in Safari, tap the Share button, then choose Add to Home Screen. Follow the prompts to finish adding it.
How do I add CHGConnect to my Android phone?
Open CHGConnect in Chrome, tap the browser menu, then choose Add to Home screen or Install app. Follow the prompts to finish adding it.
For Parents
How do I explain CHGConnect to my players' parents?
We've written parent introduction letters you can personalise with your name and team. They explain why you're using CHGConnect, what it gives their daughter and how her voice and information are handled.
You'll find them on your Player Pins screen in the app. Share one with your team before you send each player's invite, so players and parents know what CHGConnect is and what they need to do.
Both letters include a link to our CHGConnect: for players and parents page, where parents can read how it works and how their daughter's information is kept safe.
For how information is stored and who can see what, point them to CHGConnect: for players and parents.

If a parent wants to see exactly what their daughter will experience in CHGConnect, share the Player Journey Preview with them. It walks through the Player Portal, Player Profile and Your Voice Matters in the same way it does for you — so a parent can see, screen by screen, what their daughter is being invited into.
The CHGConnect Loop
When the parts come together, here's what it actually gives you and your players.
Connect with the whole team
You can't speak to every player, every session — but every player still needs to feel seen and heard.
Your Voice Matters gives every player a way to have their say. Recognition makes sure every player gets some feedback directly from you on something you noticed.
Create those small moments of connection across the whole squad — without needing 15 individual conversations after every session.
Notice when something shifts
Attendance changes. Something feels different. You notice a pattern — but knowing why matters before you decide what to do.
CHGConnect helps you spot the signals, ask the questions and understand your players' perspective — so you're less reliant on guesswork and better informed when you respond.
It gives you one more way to notice what might otherwise be easy to miss.
Make sure every player knows she was seen
Parents watch their player. Coaches have to watch everyone.
Recognition gives every player something directly from you — not just the standout performers, but the effort, attitude, resilience, teamwork and moments that can easily go unnamed.
She doesn't have to wonder whether her contribution was noticed. And you don't have to remember who got your attention last time.
Know the player behind the shirt
You see how she plays. Her Player Profile helps you understand the person you're coaching.
What she wants from the season. What builds her confidence. How she likes feedback. What matters to her.
You don't have to remember every conversation or work every player out from scratch — you've got somewhere to come back to.
And what about you?
We ask coaches to notice more. Listen more. Understand more. Make every player feel seen.
That's a lot to ask of someone who's often giving their time for free.
You won't always get it right. You won't see everything. And you can't give every player your full attention all of the time.
We know that. It's why CHGConnect was built around you, too — to give you some backup, take some of it out of your head, and make the job you're already doing just that little bit easier.
You've got their back. We've got yours.
Less to juggle. More time to coach.
